Buki Domingos, BSN,BA,RN,PHN
Buki Domingos, RN has worked in the nursing field for over 18 years of which 12 years were as a registered nurse with Caritas in Bonn Germany where she received her nursing education. Ms Domingos currently practices as a home health hospice nurse in San Diego. Ms. Domingos was born and raised in Nigeria and she has also lived in the Republic of Benin (where she studied in the University of Benin), France, Germany and currently in the US for almost a decade. Ms. Domingos is fluent in four languages (French, German, English, and Pidgin English). Ms Domingos is a Board member of the Survivor Leader Network, Advisory Board member of Humans Against Trafficking, an Advisory Board Member of Framework which is a national board through the International Rescue Committee (IRC), the World March of Women, and the Founder of the Racial Justice Coalition of San Diego. Being a survivor of human trafficking herself, Ms. Domingos is active in the movement to end Human Trafficking with organizations like: Alliance 4 Empowerment/UCSD/PCI – No More No More campaign, kNOw MORE (PLNU - Center for Justice and Reconciliation), and she has been active in the Me Too Movement. This work was recognized by the NCRC and KPBS in 2019 when she won the community hero award for her work against human trafficking in San Diego, and also earned the Peace Makers award in 2020 for her anti human trafficking work in San Diego. Ms. Domingos has done this work through motivational speaking, healthcare workshops, educational seminars, forums, webinars, and global summits. Ms. Domingos’ targeted population where survivors of human trafficking, underserved racial minorities, high school students, and university students, Medical Doctors, and Nurse Practitioners. This work has also included contracts for San Diego Unified School District, the Union Tribune, Sharp, and University of California, San Diego.
Darwin Fishman, PhD
Dr. Darwin Fishman has worked as a Lecturer for the Sociology and Africana American Studies at UC San Diego and the Department of Sociology and Africana Studies at San Diego State University. He has a Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Maryland-College Park, an M.A. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Social Science) from the San Francisco State University and a B.A. degree in Sociology from University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
Dr. Fishman has numerous publications including the following books: Tarred and Feathered, Again: Racial Attacks on President Obama That Provoke, Disappear, and Fester Cognella Press (Fall, 2017). From Misunderstood Apathy to Radical Engagement: How Race, Gender, and Sexuality Influence Contemporary Youth Politics Rowman and Littlefield Publishers (Forthcoming) Political Activities of African American Teenagers: A Case Study of High School Students in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area, The Edwin Mellen Press, Spring, (2011.) He has also published the following journal articles and chapters: “Racial Attacks on President Obama And the White Nationalist Legacy,” The Western Journal of Black Studies, December 2013; “Can Washington, D.C. Dr. Fishman has taught courses in Sociology, Political Science, Criminology, and African American Studies at Western Illinois University, Temple University, Stony Brook University, University of the District of Columbia, University of California, Riverside, Point Loma Nazarene University, and California State University, San Marcos.
Dr. Fishman is currently the Co-Chair for Continuing the Conversation and he is also one of the Co-Founders of the Racial Justice Coalition.
Dr. Fishman has served as a Board Member on the Community Review Board on Police Practices for San Diego City and he is currently serves as the Second Vice President for the Juvenile Justice Commission for the County of San Diego. He has also worked as a Precinct Inspector for the San Diego County Registrar of Voters for the last six years.
Dr. Fishman also has extensive experience traveling the globe. He has visited 47 states in the U.S and traveled in 17 countries in Europe, 4 countries in South America, 6 countries in Africa, 5 Caribbean countries, as well as in Turkey, Australia, Mexico, and he has lived in Denmark and Canada.
Dr. Fishman loves to give back to his community through service work and community organizing and he currently resides in East County San Diego.
